ALBA Experts Meet Today in Havana
Guantánamo, Dec 11 (CMKS).- Experts from the nine country members of the
Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America will meet this Friday in Havana to prepare the agenda for the December 13-14 ALBA Summit.Specialists from the host country, along with those from Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador,
Honduras, Dominica, Antigua and Barbudas, Nicaragua, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will meet at the Palco Hotel of Havana's Convention Center.The experts will study agreements and proposals from previous ALBA summits and will determine the issues to be discussed by the presidents and heads of delegations
in the upcoming event.Havana was selected as the venue for this ALBA Summit at the proposal of Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez Frías during the Cochabamba Summit, Bolivia, held last October.ALBA, an initiative by Chavez and Fidel Castro, was officially founded in the Cuban capital
on December 14, 2004. Soon after being constituted, the group was joined by two South American nations: Bolivia and Ecuador.The same number of Central American countries later became members of
the mechanism: Nicaragua and Honduras followed by three other countries from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM); Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Dominica were the latest countries to join the group.Source: ACN
