
Six gold medals for Cuba in ALBA Games in rowing

Guantánamo, April 17 (CMKS) .- Cuba made a perfect performance today in the first competition of the Rowing Tournament corresponding the 3rd ALBA Games, after winning six gold medals in dispute.
Javier Concepción and Yoennis Hernández, Pan American Champions in Rio de Janeiro 2007, dominated the men double pair with a time of 6.21,47 minutes, escorted by Yuleidis Cascaret-Eduardo Rubio (Cuba B, 6.51,82), and Iniorki Pascual-José Rodriguez (Cuba C, 6.55,82).
The pair of Yosbel Hernandez and Junior Perez, sixth in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Continental Champions, won the lightweight double pair, to go two thousand meters in 7.04,69 minutes.
Raul Garcia- Manuel Suarez (CUB B/7.09, 72) and Omar Quevedo-Junior Graterol (VEN/7.16, 70) were second and third respectively.
In the women single light weight, the gold medal was won by Yaima Velasquez (Cuba A, 7.56, 75), the silver went to Yoleine Domínguez (Cuba B, 8.02, 22) and the bronze belonged to Yurisleidis Orasma (Cuba D, 8.05, 86).
Jorber Avila and Jenser Basilio (Cuba A, 7.03, 18) won the men double sin, ahead of Carlos E. Díaz- Jorge Marcer (Cuba C, 7.07, 23) and Norkis Boucourt-Solanis Freire (Cuba B, 7.09, 16).
The women four par was dominated by Cuba A (6.47, 66), followed by Cuba B (6.53, 18) and Venezuela (6.55, 91), and in the men four sin light weight, the order was similar: Cuba A (6.35, 18), Cuba B (6.50, 75) and Venezuela (6.57, 18).
The rowing contests corresponding to the 3rd ALBA Games was carried out in the José Smith Comas Aquatic Tack in Havana, and will be extended until Sunday.
